Lighting is one of the most important elements of good interior design. Even in period properties, incorporating the newest in lighting and other technologies can often work really well. Achieving the ‘best of the new inside the best of the old’ is an often-used mantra with period properties!
Here are some examples of dramatic lighting solutions for large spaces with ultra-high ceilings (curved track and lighting gantries), little internal natural light (floor lighting panels), long staircase drops, and large vaulted spaces like this Monastery chapel. However, lighting can be also be very subtle, and great effects can be achieved through techniques such as concealed plinth or cove lighting, inset LEDs and so on.
